bravery gone too far

Jonah has been getting very brave lately, especially when it comes to his physical development. He is climbing and jumping like crazy. Yesterday he decided to start jumping off our bed. There's no bed frame, but there's box spring and a THICK mattress. He was very proud of himself and kept saying "JONAH DO A HUGE JUMP!" He typically landed on his feet, but then fell onto his hands. From our bed, he could see a picture of Glenn on my computer desktop, so then he kept saying, "Daddy, watch Jonah do a huge jump!" Then he would jump, and look up at the computer and say, "Daddy see Jonah do a huge jump!" It was quite funny and I managed to get some video.

Just now he decided to do it again. However, he changed his technique at one point and did a complete belly flop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He looked up at me and let out an involuntary grunt, then cried a little, wanted hugs/cuddles, then stopped and said it was "dunny" (funny) and he was back at it again. I wonder if his neck was damaged when his chest hit the floor?!

  • We had the same thing happen with Bethany. She was jumping on our bed with both of us on it and flew right over one of us onto the floor. I am pretty sure she landed just the way you described. She was fine. :)
That is so cute that he wanted Daddy to see him do the huge jump. I can't wait to hear him in person.
