Time change and updates
Have I ranted about the time change involved with daylight saving? I used to love the "fall back" to gain that extra hour of sleep. I always dreaded the "spring forward" because of the loss of sleep, however, did appreciate the extra light.
Then I had a child. And now I dread BOTH time changes. The "fall back" has turned into torture. It used to be that I'd wake up at my usual time, say 7am. However, with the change the clock would read 6am and I'd be able to go back to sleep for a full hour! Now, I wake up at the same time but the clock says 6am and instead of enjoying the extra hour, I have to get up anyway because my child is up at the usual time too.
And then the spring forward remains as an hour loss. And most bizarre of all, Jonah always seems to anticipate the time change. Like, this morning, we figured that although our bodies would feel like they are getting up at 7, the clock would say 8. We wouldn't have to lose that hour until Monday morning. But Jonah, in his wisdom, woke up an hour early. So, although the clock SAID 7:15am, it was actually 6:15am in my brain still. Not cool.
All that said, Jonah has been a lot of fun on the weekends lately. He has said some pretty sweet things like, "Daddy, you're a good man." and "It's my baby and I love it." and "Mommy, you're my favorite lady." And some days he says "I love you Mommy" and "I love you Daddy" so many times that we ALMOST tire of it.
At the library we found a 3-hour audio recording of Roald Dahl's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". It took Jonah and me three days of commuting to get through it but he loved it and now he's fixated. [Side note: stories on CD are saving my sanity for my 40-minute commutes with Jonah in tow.] He built a large tinkertoy structure yesterday that he called "Mr Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory". At one point when he and Glenn were getting ready to go outside Jonah said, "Mommy, you have two choices. You can stay inside and smell the chocolate from the factory and taste some chocolate; OR, you can come outside and play with us!" If you know me, you know exactly what I decided to do.
We got to hear baby #2's heartbeat last week. That was really nice and my ultrasound is booked for April 1st... April's fool's day. I wonder if the person doing the ultrasound will play any tricks on me? Beware of my blog that day... Perhaps I'll report how the ultrasound went inaccurately. I've been feeling well as far as the pregnancy goes. I made it through the first trimester and I would say it was easier than my first time round (which wasn't bad at all).
This week I add four hours to my work week and I'm not exactly sure where I'm taking that time from. I'm hoping it won't be out of my sleep schedule, although with the time change, it quite likely will be. So, starting this week, I'll be one of Jonah's preschool teachers. Should be interesting! I spent the day in his program on Thursday and it was definitely weird for him. He came to me feeling sad at least 3 times saying he wanted to go home. Very unusual for him. Anyway, he'll get used to it and it will get better, I'm sure. All that to say, I will have even less time in blogland!
On a final note, we have finally seen a little progress with Jonah as far as night-time diapers go. He has been potty trained for about a year, but continues to need a diaper during the night (although not during naps). During the last two weeks, he has had a dry diaper at least four times. It would be SO exciting for Jonah to be completely done with diapers by the time baby#2 arrives, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm so with you on the time change thing. Boo-urns!
We're also in about the same spot with nighttime diapers. Darcy is perfect during the day and for nap time. Nights are a different issue but over the last few weeks the diaper has been dry more often than it has been wet. She even got out of bed last night to tell us she had to pee. Maybe there's an end in sight!

Commuting Alert: If you come across any audio stories about "Junie B. Jones", pass on them!
We acquired a free copy, and couldn't stand it. I think it is actually aimed elementary school students, so it may not be to Jonah's liking, but the way it's read is annoying. They use bad grammar, wrong past tenses, it was just too much!
As for our diaper situation, Lucas just started potty training last fall and is pretty good being dry during the day and overnight since the start, but will not have BM's on the toilet! So we're still not using underwear much.
Exciting hearing about baby #2 and sounds like Jonah is adjusting well so far.

oh dear, try 6am consistently every morning - that's just not fun...
or even 5:30 sometimes - with a poopy diaper and so she's just not ignorable :o(

Okay I was skimming this post, and the way you mentioned "Baby #2's heartbeat," I thought you meant twins! I was like... "Jonah was right?!?" LOL whew... :-) I re-read and figured out what you meant! Maybe you need a nickname for Baby #2. How about Beef or Salt? ;-) Hope you're doing great!
