I'm a super Mom, but I'm no Supermom!

I'm tired!

This last week has proven to be less physically tiring than last week, but more mentally and emotionally draining. Jonah is having difficulty adjusting to having Miles around all the time, so he's whining a lot ("Meye-O! Meye-O!") - worrying about Miles ("Meye-O") taking his cup of soymilk/formula, his dog Ivy, sponge bob ball, various food items, and other things. He's been wanting a ton of one-on-one attention and he hasn't been sleeping well either, getting up as early as 6am (I KNOW!!!), napping poorly, and then being hysterical by 5:30pm. Man, I've just about had enough! You've heard the expression, "I'm at the end of my rope"? Well, I heard myself saying this week, "I think I ran out of rope yesterday!"

Can someone transport me to a quiet spa somewhere for a weekend?!

To Miles' credit, he is still doing well. He is sleeping well for me, eating, drinking, etc. He seems to love Jonah even more now (not sure why Jonah's whining isn't driving Miles nuts!?!?) and is trying to say "Aunt Sherri"! Yes! This is all good, because if he were struggling too, I would have run out of rope MUCH earlier in the week!

Anyway, this afternoon was a little better. Jonah and I went out and had a nice visit with some relatives. Jonah didn't say "Meye-o" once in a whiney tone and I actually remembered, "Hey, I LIKE my child!" [As a side note, he got to visit a water heater and pipes there!! And there were drums!!]

And then tonight Jonah, Miles, Tracy and I had fun hiding and laughing under blankets in the playroom. I reminded Jonah twice since about the fun we had after supper, trying to keep the GOOD memories alive! :o)

I have to take a moment to throw out a special thanks to my in-laws, who, when I was away over Christmas, changed the formal dining room into a playroom!!!! I am very grateful, as the room really has been a life saver. If it weren't for the playroom.... there'd be NO rope?! :o)

And finally, hockey is BACK! The excitement of gourmet cooking wore off sooner than I anticipated. The box is a hockey net again. The little rings we were using for pasta are now additional hockey pucks! Hockey lives! Go Leafs Go!

  • How on earth did he become interested in water heaters, anyway?!! That's hilarious!

  • It will get better! Having Glenn home for the next little while should definitely help Jonah adjust, and help you get back to your "happy place"!! Change is often painful at first, as we discussed on Tracy's blog - if anyone has the patience to get through this, it's you! :)

  • Hey Sherri!
I hope this week is going better than last. Ben has been pretty whiney this week too. I don't know what the deal is...except that he is 19 months. Those terrible twos are starting to creep in. :0)

Can I come to the spa with you that you get transported to?

Too bad about the kitchen. I am sure Glenn is happy that hockey is back!

  • Hang in there kiddo all things take time to adjust to and Sherri your love for family, children will help get you through.

At times it must be hard for everyone to adjust and settle in to this some what new adjustment and routine but the boys love each other, they got a great mom and aunt looking after them & a wonderful play room. The bonding that is going on between all will be remembered for a lifetime.

So hang in there kiddo and remember you have family and friends who admire you and respect you for what you are doing. They are there for you if you need them all for the asking. So if you need that little extra help from time to time do hesitate to reach out and ask.
