Beef & Salt
So this morning Glenn and I told Jonah our big news! We're having a BABY!! We've known since December 23rd and it has been a hard secret to keep. We've been hinting with Jonah for a few weeks to help prepare him. He recently told me he wanted a brother AND a sister.
So, this morning we told him and he seemed pleased. We had him practice saying "I'm going to be a big brother" to prepare him to go upstairs and tell Glenn's family.
When we got upstairs it was just Aunt Tracy and Miles. The conversation sorta went like this:
Jonah: Miles, I'm going to be a big brother. I have TWO sisters! Beef and Salt! ("Silly names" he had previously picked out in a conversation about a theoretical baby.)
Let's just say the announcement lost a lot of "oompf" as we tried and tried to get the news out properly! Eventually we just told Tracy and Miles ourselves.
Then I decided to bribe Jonah with marshmallows if he would do the next announcement properly. This time, when Grandma and Grandpa came downstairs, he said "Grandma, I'm going to be a big brother!"
THAT was an effective announcement and the point definitely came across. Grandpa didn't hear, so he had to say it once more.
As the day has progressed, Jonah has expressed that he wants there to be TWO babies. Tonight he even said he will be sad if there is only one baby, because he wants TWO. And he wants them to be named "Arnold" and "Ms. Frizzle" (Magic School Bus characters). Yeah, a little too much Magic School Bus going on at our house! For the next 9 weeks I'll be trying to convince him that there's probably just one in there, and the 19-week ultrasound will tell us for sure! I'm pretty sure I can only handle one at a time, but I'll take whatever blessing(s) the Lord gives me!

wow how cool is this I am very happy for you both, congrats. Two would be fun but trust me from first hand knowledge of being a twin two is a lot of work.
Jonah sure is a cute guy and kids have such a wonderful way about them. I love seeing things through their eyes.

Maybe Saltbeef could be a nice, briney middle name for my new niece or nephew?

Congratulations!!!! That is wonderful news indeed. I hope you're feeling well. Darcy also wanted twins (thanks a lot Dora the Expolrer!) but she eventually got used to the idea of one baby, which she wanted to be a girl. Every once in a while when someone asks her about her brother she'll say, "I wanted him to be a sister."
You'll all be thrilled with whoever God has in store for you.

Congratulations!
It's hard to keep quiet until you're ready, isn't it?!
We didn't have a three year old to help us deliver the news. Laura just turned 2 when we announced Lucas' impending arrival, and she was barely talking at that point, with her delay in speech.
Have you been given a due date yet?

We're really excited for you guys. I told Jedi that our prayers were answered - we used to pray at night that God would give Jonah a baby brother or sister.
Woohooo!!!!

Congratulations!!! I'm so excited for you all! Funny that Jonah wants sister(s), when he was hoping that Cali would be a boy! :-) Either way, I wish you the best and look forward to hearing updates!!!

Congratulations Sherri! If you are still looking for other names you could use Fred...I like it. Of course there are other names too, like Deifenbaker...but Fred seems easy to remember.
Wendy and I will look forward to the announcement in August whatever his/her name!

Congratulations! That is so exciting. I think one of the best gifts we can give our kids is that of a sibling. We will keep you in our prayers.
