Recent Happenings

Jonah has been as busy as ever. He created another white board drawing for Glenn that definitely needed to be documented. He asked me to help his spell 'hunt' and then he asked me what we should hunt. I told him deer. So he drew one. The people surrounding the deer to shoot it with arrows are Glenn, Jonah, and me. The top portion of the picture is also our family doing some target practice. Anyone find this picture odd at all? I mean, we Lavenders don't hunt anything!! In fact, if we had to kill our own meat, I'm fairly certain we'd be vegetarians.

Maybe I should ask Jonah more about this picture. Perhaps we are just tranquilizing the deer to tag it for study.

Jonah recently went to his friends' sixth birthday party. The following day, it occurred to him that he missed MY sixth birthday and insisted we celebrate. He painted me a picture of a flower. I had chocolate ice-cream and blew out a tealight candle. He made me a card and also gave me one of Glenn's old trophies that Jonah had been playing with. He told me it was because was such a good volleyball player -- when I was six?

Anyway, it has been really cute. Each day after we celebrated another birthday of mine - ages 7 through 11 and then back to one. Each celebration has become less and less exciting. And I think we're finally done.

Bram is continuing his good eating trend. He has liked everything he has tried. He eats peaches, pears, applesauce, prunes, bananas, carrots, peas, green beans, sweet pototatoes, chicken, oat and rice cereals. And in this picture, soy formula! He has 2 to 4 ounces of that every day now and I'm convinced that it's going to buy me some freedom occasionally. Next on the menu will be potatoes, squash, tofu, apricots and blueberries. I introduce things rather slowly, so those things could take while. And in case you are wondering why soy formula? Jonah was sensitive/allergic to dairy products, so we're going to hold off on those until Bram is older.

Bram has 4 teeth now. The two front bottom teeth and the two top dracula teeth. It's a rather interesting look. He is sitting up alone fairly well now and should be crawling in the next couple of weeks. We've been using some sign language with him. He seems to understand the sign for milk. I thought he may have used the sign for "more" the other day but I'm not sure. We're also working on waving hello and good-bye.

Over Easter we attempted to start a couple of our own traditions. On Good Friday we're going to eat Rainbow Trout for lunch. Mmmmm. And I'm going to bake homemade rolls. The ones pictured here are my best over. Best looking and best tasting.

Oh yeah, baby. I've got skills.

Next, had to get a picture of the boys together on Good Friday. Don't they look so sweet!?

We also got in some good family backyard time! We played soccer and hockey. And I think Glenn and Jonah had already played baseball and lacrosse before Bram and I got out there. Bram had his first experience with grass.

It was really nice to get out there in the sunshine and we even observed that our garden is becoming active.

Here is a tiny flower that my English neighbor called a snow drop. We have 3 in the front.

And the bleeding hearts are pushing their way through too! Won't be long!
