Wednesday

Another early morning! 5:30am once again. Glenn and I bought some brains last night though, and took turns going back to bed this morning. Why didn’t we think of that yesterday?!?! When I got up the second time, I opened our bedroom door and immediately made eye contact with a deer only 3 feet away - a very surreal experience. There was a window separating us of course. Two other deer were outside the window too.

Jonah took a two-hour nap today and was sound asleep by 8:30pm. I’m hoping that he’ll do an 11-hour night… Not sure why I haven’t lost hope yet!

Jonah’s highlights…
-feeding fish
-playing the drums in the recording studio, including a gong (which was scary, so he would hit it and immediately run away)
-playing golf with Dave
-throwing rocks with Jess
-another day of eating way too much fruit and way too many tomatoes
-eating pig (sorry Aunt Krista! It seems that telling Jonah which animal he is eating actually increases the amount and speed with which he wants to eat it.)
-laughing at the little frog in the pool

Conversation of note:
Daddy: Jonah, who loves you?
Jonah: Jesus and Ivy!

Today I enjoyed another Porter’s Call session, this time by Al AND Nita Andrews. I also enjoyed the “Women at Rest” session with Nita… Jess and I were relieved it wasn’t one of those flowery, frilly women’s events that involves crying. Ha ha.

And I better add a special thanks here to Dave, Jess, Jeremy & Erin who have all pitched in to help us out with Jonah, and to Marc and Jason too for moments of playtime, and anyone else who has taken time to talk with Jonah, play with him, tell us how cute and smart he is, and so on. I’m not sure why, but it just feels great when other people love your child! Hmmmm… sermon analogy in the making?

  • That's okay Sherri - if I had a child I'd do whatever it took to get him to eat as well! But...maybe one day Jonah will realise, "I'm eating a pig! That's insane". Wishful thinking perhaps! ;-)P

I would absolutely love the closeness to nature that you're experiencing! How magical this place sounds!

  • I would love to hear more about your porters call sessions. I loved the one they did here in Nashville a few years ago. Sounds like you are having so much fun!

  • 'eating pig' sounds terrible, doesn't it?!! why is it that saying pork somehow makes it more palatable??

you get to go sessions too, Sherri? that's cool. . i would not want to attend a 'fluffy, frilly women's thing' either!!! but I don't mind the crying. . just not the fluffy or frilly part!!! Glad your session wasn't any of those things!! phew!

A nice, yearly vacation for you all! (except for Jonah losing sleep and for you guys waking up super early!!!)

  • when you talk of the deers at your window it reminds me of my days in Banff when the cariboo would come down off the mountains and wonder around by the staff cabins where I worked I will show Jonah a picture some day of me on my porch petting a deer.

oh how wondedrful our God is to supply us with such beauty.
