Cardboard & gigs
Jonah brought me the lid of a cardboard box the other day and asked me to make a case for his guitar so I did, with the help of scissors and duct tape. [I felt compelled to do this for him, as I had yet to figure out how to make this same piece of cardboard into a roof for his car as he requested several times.]
“Gig?” I guess he learned that word sometime! Tonight he’s throwing the word all over the place and it’s quite hilarious…
“I’ve got to go to another gig now! Bye!”
“I have two gigs. That one [pointing to one room] doesn’t have drums, but this one [pointing toward a different room] does!”
The combinations are endless.
So far this month with cardboard (and duct tape and scissors) I have made a train track and tunnel, as well as a car ramp and tunnel. Then I made Jonah a bank machine and money – that was a big hit for a couple of days too.
Fun with cardboard started a long time ago. I’ve made single box cars for Jonah before, and also stoves, refrigerators, and ovens. The stuff I have done recently is definitely my best work though, with the guitar case being the most brilliant so far.
Who needs toys?
See how the case is custom fit to this guitar (aside from the fact that the neck sticks out... Protecting the neck isn't a necessity, is it?)

It stays together via the design of the duct tape handles. You simply hold both handles in one hand, and "Voila!"

Just look at this sweet baby and then try to honestly tell me you don't want one for your toy electric guitar!

I don't know what's cooler - the guitar case you handcrafted, or the stunning carpet/backdrop against which it rests!

Haha, that is a pretty nifty guitar case! Just put a few dh stickers on it and it'll look just like the musicians who have real gigs!
I always loved making different things out of huge pieces of cardboard. You can use the things until they start crumbling! Quite sturdy!
Did you and Jonah get your gifts yet?

K & K,
I chose the carpet backdrop intentionally, knowing it would enhance the look of the case!
Sarah - YES - got your cards and gifts last week! Thanks! Jonah gave a nice big "ooooooh" when he opened his coloring book! And the lotion for me smells SO nice! Thanks! "Super fans" are FANtastic! Pass my thanks on to Monika & Cherylyn too!
