The things they say...

Jonah is just about himself today, after suffering sleep deprivation for the last week. It's such a relief. He has been saying funny and cute things all day. Here are a few...

We were held up in traffic for a little while this afternoon and finally I caught sight of the reason.
Me: Oh look Jonah, there was a car accident!
Jonah: NO, not an ACcident! ANGRY!
(Reasoning: the cars didn't crash by accident, one of them was angry?)

Also in the car:
Jonah: I'm going to grow LONG legs so I can reach the pedal and play the bass drum!
(an impressive 17-word sentence!)

Jonah has taken to making lists. (I wonder where he got that?) They have mostly been grocery lists, but today he was working on a To Do List... It included:
"hockey"
"store"
And, "I need new [bed]sheets. Yeah, these are REEEALLY dirty."

Ummmmm... I guess I better go change those bed sheets!

Oh, and one cute thing I think he said Sunday and yesterday...

"I need to go to daycare and see my friend Miles."

A light moment from our trip...

Jonah dealt out his worst ever insult on our trip to Newfoundland. It went sorta like this:

Great-Uncle: Come on, b'y, eat your carrots!

Jonah: I CAN'T! They're mushy, like POOP!

Fortunately, my Uncle didn't hear him and my Aunt wasn't at the table at the time. It made me laugh out loud though.

Our trip

Got back from Newfoundland this afternoon. I really don't know where to begin with the trip and I'm not sure I can even blog about it. It was really hard for a whole variety of reasons. But it sure is funny how pictures can make even a difficult trip look like quite a lot of fun!! Here are a couple to start us off...

Tomorrow is the day Jonah and I head to St. John's, NL. We are both pretty excited! For my American friends I have included the following map of Canada. We live in Ontario, the coral part by the Great Lakes there, and we're going to the purple part on the far right.


We don't have too many plans, aside from spending time with family. I am hoping to go to the GEO CENTRE and Signal Hill. My brother took this picture of Cabot Tower (on Signal Hill) earlier this year:


And here's an historical tidbit for you:

Cabot Tower was built in 1897 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of John Cabot's discovery of Newfoundland, and Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. In 1901, Marconi received the first trans-Atlantic wireless message at a position near the tower, the letter "S" in Morse Code sent from Cornwall, England.

I'm pretty sure the "S" was for Sherri, yes? Cabot Tower is now the centre of Signal Hill Historical Park. I can still remember doing one of the LONG hiking trails when I was much younger. I can remember the feeling of my legs about to fall off... Hmmmm... I wonder how long that walk actually is? You know how you go back to your primary school and realize how surprisingly TINY it is for how HUGE it felt at the time?

Skating

While visiting my parents last weekend we went skating and swimming. This was really Jonah's first time on the ice in skates and he really enjoyed it. Glenn and Jonah had the rink to themselves! They only spent about 15 minutes out there and then we all headed for the pool.
