Marathon...

I'm religiously following the results of Nashville's Country Music Half-Marathon and Marathon at the moment, because I know at least 6 of its runners!

My husband Glenn is running the full marathon, along with downhere family members Jason Germain, Dave Lewis and Jeremy Thiessen. Glenn's sister, Krista, is running the half-marathon with Jeremy's wife, Erin.

In fact, Krista and Erin are done! Their unofficial time is 2:46:24 each! Congrats girls! I'm proud of you! Update: Their official time was actually 2:23:00!

Here are the other stats so far...

Jeremy stayed with Erin and Krista for the half, and then continued on to do the full, so right now, all I have for him is his completion of the half at 2:43:16.

Glenn was well on pace 1:52:12 at the half-marathon mark, and I'm anticipating his 20-mile update any minute!!!

Jason and Dave are both first-time marathoners. Stats so far are:
Jason - half-marathon 3:01:05
Dave - half-marathon 2:01:22

p.s. Glenn's other sister, Tracy, Dave's wife, Jess, and Jason's wife, Heather are all marathon water volunteers too!

Update: After an hour of worrying that Glenn still hadn't passed the 20 mile mark, he called me to say he was DONE the marathon! WOO HOO! He finished in 3:40:01 (unofficially). I guess there was some sort of glitch at the 20-mile mark?! I'm so proud of him! He shaved an amazing 45 minutes off his last marathon!!!

Sunday playground

Sunday was a SUPER nice day, so Aunt Krista joined Tracy, Miles, Jonah and I for a walk to the playground. The boys loved it and the time flew by.

If Jonah can muster up the courage to try a big slide once, he LOVES it and then just won't stop!

Just perennials

I'm selling perennial plants/flowers as a fundraiser for MOPS. I know that our MOPS group is giving away most of the money raised, although to be honest, I can't remember who to?! It's for some other group of needy Moms... I promise!

We are selling through Just Perennials.

The plants are $2.50 each or 12 for $25. They are hardy -- grown outside in Guelph, Ontario.

If you're interested, I need your order and your money by May 1st. And you'll have to pick up your plants at my place on the evening of May 8th or soon after. Although if you don't live in Cambridge, but you'd like me to deliver some to your Mom who DOES live in Cambridge, well then, I may be able to help you out! Mother's Day is coming soon after all!

Update: OK, the fundraiser is a mothers helping mothers kind of thing for a Peru mission trip my church is doing. I'll be more accurate when I get a better handle on it.

Sisters...

I think around the time I got married, I gave my sister the collectible plate pictured above [artist Chantal Poulin]. And soon after, she gave the same one to me. Don't get me wrong, Carla and I aren't exactly your "collectible plate kinda people" but this one we both admired. Pretty. Sisters. And the phrase reads "Sisters are blossoms in the garden of life."

A while after, we found out that Chantal Poulin was going to be in Guelph, so we actually brought our plates to the store where she would be signing her works, and left them there to be autographed on the back. I really don't remember what we paid for them - perhaps around $30? And I have no idea how much value was added with her signature. But I see from her website that to purchase the plate new, now that it is retired, would cost nearly $100!! I really had no idea that it could be worth that much... and probably wouldn't have even thought to check except...

The plate has been hanging in my bathroom... Getting out of the shower the other night I must have hit the plate with my towel... It hit the floor and smashed - some of the pieces landed inside my bathtub on the other side of the [small] bathroom... I'm glad I wasn't injured... But GRRRRRRR! I don't have too many sentimental items. I guess I now have one less!

But at least I still have my sister! That's what really matters!
